Hidden Gems

Dusty Roads & Dramatic Cliffs

Traveling Fuerteventura by campervan holds a charm that is hard to find anywhere else in the Canaries. It's about raw beauty, endless empty dusty roads, dramatic coastal cliffs, and a profound silence. If you are willing to leave the asphalt behind, the island reveals its true soul.

Near El Cotillo, we discovered Playa de Esquinzo and Playa del Águila. Standing on the edge of these dramatic cliffs looking out over the open horizon truly feels like standing at the end of the world. Venturing inland, we drove to Betancuria, the island's former capital hidden deep in the hills. With its colonial streets and the beautiful Iglesia de Santa María, it felt like stepping into another era entirely.

The west coast hides some of the most striking scenery. We navigated down to Puertito de los Molinos, a tiny, remote settlement where the ocean suddenly crashes in between two massive rocks. Further south lies Ajuy, famous for its pitch-black volcanic sand beach and the mysterious, towering caves carved out by the Atlantic Ocean over millennia. Fuerteventura is an island built for van life — vast open spaces and dusty trails calling out for adventure.
